Sarah Carter For Lexington School Committee
Where I've been...
I have been a member of the Lexington community for over 30 years. I grew up here and am a proud graduate of the Lexington Public Schools. My journey went through Pilgrim Nursery School, Bridge Elementary , Clarke Middle School, and completed at Lexington High School. After attending college in the Midwest, my husband and I were thrilled to move back to Lexington in 2011 to raise our family.

With a career spanning multiple roles in education, I have dedicated much of my life to supporting students, families, and teachers in public education. My professional experience began in the classroom as a middle school Social Studies teacher in Detroit, MI, and later in Haverhill, MA. After receiving my MLIS from Simmons Collage, I transitioned to the role of a K-8 school librarian in Malden, MA, followed by an elementary school librarian position in Needham, MA. Working as a librarian allowed me to connect deeply with students, fostering their love of learning and helping them navigate the world of knowledge.

As a mother, I had the privilege of focusing on my family while remaining deeply involved in the schools my children attended. My volunteer work has spanned a wide range of roles, from serving as the Math Night Coordinator at Bowman Elementary, to being the President of Clarke PTO, and the VP for MiniGrants for LHS PTO. I have also been an active member of various committees such as the Forums Committee at Clarke PTO, Trivia Bee Chair for the Lexington Education Foundation (LEF), and Student Ambassador Coordinator for LEF. I also served in leadership capacities within SEPAC/SEPTA as a School Liaison and School Committee Representative.

Beyond my professional and volunteer commitments, I enjoy square dancing, reading, and solving puzzles. These hobbies help me maintain balance in my life and fuel my passion for learning and community engagement.
